About LISNDA
Long Island Food Cooperative
After getting started in 1989, the Long Island Food Co-Op has evolved into a large, well respected purchasing group. Today, there are over 50 school districts participating with a bid purchasing power of 25 million dollars. The participating districts represent over 200,000 students. It includes small and large districts and all districts have benefited from the program.
The LI Food Co-Op has developed a thorough bidding process that includes detailed specifications and attracts a wide range of bidding vendors. The development of our process won a Best Practice Award
from the NY Office of General Services.
As the name implies, it is a cooperative effort and we come together as a team every year to procure the food and supplies we need, at the lowest cost possible, to run successful school feeding programs in our respective schools.
The Long Island Food Cooperative is very proud of it’s accomplishments. We have formed a strong, cohesive group and shown that we can reduce costs and promote school feeding programs. You must be a member of the LISNDA to be able to join the Co-Op.
